Hi everyone.

I was trying to find out more information on Kawai's NS series of upright pianos. What were their years of production and how is their quality, etc...

Thank you!

Hi Coolkid,

NS series is about 25 years old. They were nicely built pianos but not really the best Kawai can offer. The action was a bit heavy and they lacked of sustain. Kawai has made very significant improvements over the last ten years, and hey still quite affordable in comparison to other fine pianos. I'm sure for little more $ probably you can get a K-3.
Best Regrds.

It actually depends on which mdl. NS you are refering to. The NS20A (49")was manufactured and marketed via Kawai USA to the early to mid nineties. The NS15 and the NS25 were,as far as I know gray market pianos and manufactured from as early as the mid eighties. As far as the touchweight and sustain,I think one really can't make that generalization in that I've had many preowned ones over the the years and thought they were quite comparable to the Yamaha U1 as for quality and performance but different. There are always a few barkers in every kennel(refering to the pianos) woof! woof!
