Jarrod Radnich's arrangements use only two hands but sound like much more. Someone needs to put this guy on tour! Here's a link posted to his newest video, and he's apparently already in production for another one. He's an inspiration to so many of us. Thank you, Jarrod Radnich. (I found his sheet music on musicnotes.com too) :-)

Jarrod Radnich is definately a great pianist in younger generation. His arrangements for pirates of the carribean and Harry Potter are great and probably the best versions I've ever heard.

However, for this particular new cover , imho, I found that it is probably not at his best artistically and musically. The glissando stuff are overused. (especially if the tunes is not in C) I find, the cover is a bit monotonous. The different parts of the arrangement sounds kind of the same, just with more/less dynamic and virtuoso fills. The playing itself is also lack of different kind of touches and sounds. So as the result, the music doesn't go anywhere. It is a little too dull and less memorable for me.

I think artistically, he focuses too much on selling himself as a virtuoso pop pianist. Of course, there is nothing wrong of being virtuoso. In fact, it is great! But one should always remember that virtuosity should be always FOR THE MUSIC and doesn't stand on its own.

Don't get me wrong. I like him as a pianist very much... After hearing his Disney's cover, I maybe have a too high expectation. No one is perfect... But really, I believe he could do better than this and wish to see a better output from him in the future.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and while I understand your point I don't agree with the conclusion. The repetitiveness is not a result of the arrangement. It is a result of the original ballad having repetitive segments. Unlike the Pirates of the Caribbean piece where Radnich created a medley from 3 or 4 pieces in order to avoid monotony, in this piece he kept true to the original and so the repetitiveness of the original remains. This arrangement doesn't need a vocalist to carry the melody or, if the pianist plays the melody, guitar and percussion to carry the rhythm. That is one reason why I and my students love these arrangements. They allow the pianist to express the entire song. Other arrangements of this are too simplified and boring for all but my beginner students. And the beginner students work harder as a result of having this music available.

Also, you might like his other arrangements like Nights in White Satin or Bohemian Rhapsody. I don't see videos of them yet but the music can be listened to on reverbnation.

I agree with Music Heals and love Jarrod's music. Also it keeps my students engaged and ESPECIALLY my young men/boy students who now don't want to drop piano!

I have one very talented student who started playing a couple of years ago because of Jarrod. He went from troubled young man getting D's to getting B's and some A's in school and his parents saw his entire demeanor change too.

I saw Jarrod and he was an excellent speaker (and a genuinely nice guy!) at the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy last year and he explained that he creates these arrangements in part to keep music education and music learning active. The music keeps my students wanting to PRACTICE, which is rare, and show off for their friends. It is that social interaction that is so important. Also personally I like this arrangement and think it is definitely the best one out there.

Hey Sarah, do you want to create another couple screen names to agree with Music Heals? You are doing the sock puppet thing and that is against the rules. You and Music Heals are the same person. Rabid fan, or do you have a financial horse in this race?
