Hello,

I am looking for material in the public domain (maybe available on IMSLP?) that is close to equivalent to Faber, Alfred, or Bastien Level 1 material. Do you have any suggestions for good collections?

Even if very obscure, I would like to be able to find some good collections of public domain music at this level (which is a bit below something like "Scenes from Childhood," or other collections at that level).

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!

-Colin

If you mean 'Scenes From Childhood' by Schumann - and if you like Schumann - check out his Album for the Young, Op. 68. It's actually intended for beginners, whereas Scenes From Childhood is not.

For public domain popular music (mostly 1922 and older), the mother lode is the Lester S. Levy collection, which you can google. It's at Johns Hopkins. You can download PDF scans of the originals and print them. IIRC, there are over 60,000 entries in their database.
