Having worked as a freelancer for a company that went through at least three different owners during my association with them, such a transaction doesn't necessarily mean that there will be significant or detrimental changes in terms of products, nor that the company won't be around in a year or two's time. It actually might be a good thing in restabilizing the operation and allowing for some new investment to take place. Let's hope it doesn't signal the beginning of the end for this iconic brand.

Well as an employee, I am genuinely excited by what this will allow Roland to do, and excited for the future of our Company.

This is a good thing for Roland Staff, Dealers and our end users.

No end is coming soon. You're not rid of me yet.

As somebody who hates reading stockmarket/corporate stuff, can anybody give me a brief summary of what's happened with Roland?

A holding company is buying more than half of Roland stock, becoming the majority stockholder ... and thereby becoming the parent company. So Roland will get a new executive staff.

It's management buyout orchestrated by the current CEO. Financial backing came from an American investment fund.

Woo hoo! With this shake-up and the newly focused management team, perhaps we'll finally get a music rest on the next Roland flagship stage DP!

Though I'm guessing full sampling is probably still too much to ask for at this point. It is only 2014 and all (or at least that's what my hour glass and sun dial are telling me - gotta get the shaman in here to cast out the evil spirits but I'm too busy with all the witch dunking and such).
