It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
"Doesn't practicing on the piano suck?!?!" "The joy is in the practicing. It's like relationships. Yeah, orgasms are awesome, but you can't make love to someone who you have no relationship with!"
It's a good place to visit - you may even learn something there. But please make sure your shots are up to date, before you go. Wouldn't want you to bring anything back!

I hang out there (and in the teachers' forum). There are some really nice, generous, knowledgeable posters, but it takes a while hanging out to discover who they are, and who the others (who should be ignored) are. Actually I've noticed that it's become less pleasant there lately, because of a few (reasonably new) posters. (Does it actually hurt to be polite???) I guess I'll stick it out, because usually the trolls eventually get bored and go away. Or are banned.
Yup. That's why the question comes up once in a while why so many adult non-beginners are hanging out at the Adult Beginner's Forum? Well, because they've been to the Pianist Corner, that's why.
If we lived in the Star Wars universe..............
The Force has a "Dark side", which feeds off emotions such as anger, jealousy, fear, lust, and hate, but the PW Members are only supposed to use the Force for peaceful purposes. The series' villains, the (Pianist Corner), embrace the dark side in order to seize power. The ABF compassionate and selfless use of the Force has come to be known by inference as "the light side".
Well, some of us don't visit there often precisely because it's pretty much all classical. There was a good Gershwin thread recently, and cinnamonbear posts some great old pop stylings in the members recordings, and sometimes there's threads on practicing, etc, that are similar to the ones the ABF has, but the ABF ones are better
I use the ignore button with abandon, myself
But I don't find them scary. Just not mostly on my topics.

Perhaps "more music" is always the answer, no matter what the question might be! - Qwerty53
They tend to round you up and endeavor to eat you alive . . . gotta be able to run. But it is fun . . . they`re easy to wind up. Just don`t mention "The Illuminati"
I've received excellent advice from the pianist corner whenever I've needed it. The replies I've gotten may have been blunt and lacking courtesy on occasion, but that's fine with me. As long as I get what I'm looking for, the how is secondary.
I think even the "natives" there get frustrated at how often threads get derailed into pointless bickering. But as currawong said, the rudest folks tend to disappear after a while (we can hope).
I've learned a lot there--including some things about how NOT to behave on an internet forum.
I find it amazing that there can be an argument about just about anything. Especially topics that most of the world hasn't even heard of and wouldn't care about if they had.

I go between the two forums. I don't consider myself a beginner, and I sometimes feel awkward posting about a Chopin Ballade or Concerto on this forum. Yet, I don't think I'm as serious as some of the musicians on Pianist Corner.
I am working on the Chopin Concerto right now without a teacher, I would love to be able to post snippets of my progress and get comments and feedback as I go. Do you guys think that's something for this forum or Pianist Corner? I'm really not sure.. it seems like there are some fairly advanced pianists here as well.
Working on Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata, Mvt 3.

I think we may all be thinking of a single poster, who makes more objectionable and inflammatory comments than everyone else put together, and whom the moderators, for some reason, steadfastly refuse to ban.
Weed out the comments by this poster, and the responses to them, and the forum suddenly seems much more under control.
