I was wondering what these pieces are regarded in terms of genre. I know they have a jazzy/bluesy feel to them but wonder what name they go by. Any recommendations to other songs similar to these would be of much help also. Thanks.

Thanks for the links- I hadn't heard of those shows before and the piano music is catchy and played very well. smile

I would consider this anime incidental music, or anime music for short. Some similar piano tracks are from the Final Fantasy series of video games (I know, not exactly anime, but pretty close in music style).

Also one of the leading composers of anime/game/film music is the great Masashi Hamauzu. He has a definite unique style and some of his work for Final Fantasy XIII (13) combines impressionist masters with modern pop elements and in my opinion, is some of the best current concert music out there (concert or classical, whatever you want to call it).
