Hi guys.

I was just wondering if anyone knows how well mac minis work with software pianos such as vintage D. In particular with mac minis carrying the new fusion drive instead of ssd.

Thanks in advance for any response.

Cheers.

My impression is that they have a limited number of usb ports. You could use a mini, but if you wanted to add a second monitor or other devices, you might run out connections, once you have a sound card and a controller attached. I don't know anything about the new drive. At one time, the mini's had old 5400 drives. If they've updated the drive, I'm glad to hear it.

Run of ports? Nope, 4 - USB 3 ports, FW800 port, HDMI port, and Thunderbolt port will handle a couple monitors and still have 5 ports for all else (plus Ethernet port). Also has audio line in and out jacks, so I wouldn't even need an external sound card, but YMMV. I'd get the quad core, and probably go with an external USB 3/Thunderbolt SSD for samples to save money.
