I don't tend to play barefoot because it hurts my feet--but no harm to the piano!

My bare foot has an icky, sticky feeling on the pedal. I'm not worried about the piano, I just don't like how it feels. (My feet must sweat more than my hands.)

I did mention that it is HOT here, didn't I?

Hands actually get a lot dirtier than feet--if we're talking germs, anyway. I seem to recall that hands have about the most disgusting collection of microbes anywhere on the body (with competition maybe from the mouth--but don't worry, I definitely wouldn't put that on the piano! smile )

And of course with piano pedals, the alternative to the foot is the bottom of a shoe--not exactly pristine!

I have just painted my music room. I painted both the walls and the ceiling. I closed the piano, put the cover on it, then covered the cover with an old snooker table bed cloth, then covered that with some more cloths, then put a plastic sheet over everything.

I wonder if that was enough.

You will all be relieved to know that the piano did not come out with any white spots. The same cannot, however, be said for the floor!
