If was alawys thinking when some concert pianist have a long piece to play what is on his mind on that moment.

Sometimes when I play a piece that I have learned well and I'm so comfortable when playing that I start thinking etc. what will I do today or what has happened last night when I was out with my friends.

Have any of you have this same thing?

yes, it depends on the piece I'm playing too. When I'm connecting with the song, it feels like my mind is completely lost in a perfect place. But if I'm not completely lost, my mind is all over the place. I definitely daydream a lot while playing when I learn the song well.. and sometimes as I'm learning it even. My mind just wanders.

It depends on the piece, but I find if I daydream, I lose focus and make mistakes. I try to picture something more specific in my mind if I know a piece well, which fits the mood. For example, if a piece fades out at the end, I visualise a ship sailing off slowly into the distance until you can't see it past the horizon.

It really helps me connect with the music and play better!
