Best submission and best solo piano: #2 (The Touch bu FireFinch)

Very nice and calm piece, but not flat or boring like these kind of pieces easily become. Well done!

I'll also vote for "Toccata Boogie" -- it's very sophisticated, gentle, quite original in concept. However, Firefinch, Steve Chandler, and Cudo also wrote very fluent, wonderful compositions as well. Any one of them are equally deserving, IMO.

Of course I like my own piece, #3, but I also liked Firefinch's piece #2 and the Toccata Boogie #6. I'll vote for my piece #3, but the Toccata Boogie kills for C.

I was torn between Steve's Nocturne and Firefinch's The Touch, but I decided to go with the former. #2 for A. Not going to vote on other categories.

While, for me, the Toccata Boogie was interesting I couldn't really understand what was going on. Maybe it's just the style or texture that did not appeal to me, but it obviously appeals to others! Good luck.

Well organised Larry.
Pity we only had six votes though.

Thanks for organizing the fun event, Larry. smile

If any one wants to download the PDF score or MP3 recording of Toccata Boogie, here the are:
PDF score: http://www.PianoRecital.org/tmp/Toccata-Boogie-Axtremus.pdf
MP3 recording: http://www.PianoRecital.org/tmp/Toccata-Boogie-Axtremus.mp3

[EDIT: On second thought, it's probably better to move the discussion of a particular work to a different thread to avoid cluttering up this "voting" thread ... so here's the separate Toccata Boogie thread: http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2320452/Toccata_Boogie_--_piano_solo.html ]

Also a tip of the hat to Cudo ... your rendition/treatment of that 4-note motif is really beautiful. Pretty cool Jazz! I very much enjoy listening to it ... over and over and over again. thumb
