Hi all,

A few of you were asking when the Turbo Start videos for the RD800 were going up. Marketing just put up the blog post. Take a look as you have time!

Great work Jay! These videos are great for RD800 newbies that want to jump right in and start playing while having some idea of its navigation and versatility. Well done!

Thanks man.

That was the intent. So I'm glad that you picked up on that without any positioning of the videos. Not intended to be a video owners manual. (never ever want to do one of those) More of a....Turbo start...

Jay those are really great! very helpful. smile Thanks a lot!

If you ever decide to make a new batch of them, I'd suggest:

1) setting up the RD800 to control other gear via midi
2) using the built in rhythms
3) saving recordings to a usb stick
4) and doing a factory reset

Of course all that's in the manual, but it's nice to see it done directly.

Either way, thanks again for the videos you made. They're very cool, and they really show off what the RD800 can do.

Thanks Fizikisto.

It was a delicate balance of what to show and what to leave out for this round.

I like all of your suggestions for a future round of videos though. Noted for sure! A lot of this was based on the repeated questions I've been answering through our support forums. It's so much easier to copy and paste a link than type a long explanation.

Hi jay.
I've just seen all your videos.
It's really great for people who want to discover some of the power you have in this keyboard.
Great job man,thanks a lot!
What you feel in your videos is all the easy workflow the rd800 has.
In fact,i don't know a better and easier stage piano.(i can't speak about kawai because it seems good but unfortunatly i don't know them)

All on the rd800 is the perfect balance between power, fun and accessibility.

Some suggestions:
as a semi pro/pro user,i'm speaking a lot with my friends and connections(keyboards players)about what the best in use, where are the best sounds....etc etc(you know better than me that it's a marketing race for all of you to show the best of your products)

A lot of advanced user are looking like me for the best eps sounds.
When you look the youtube videos, you have some videos for diverse sounds, but in my point of view not so much finally about one of the best evolution and advantage of the rd800:
The new eps!
I think roland has to demonstrate a little more these new sounds,in a 10 minutes playing video for exemple.(yamaha did that with the cp1/5,korg did that with the kronos different engines)
Advanced potential buyers are loving that(it was one of the reason i bought the cp4 along with the rd 800)and you can win a lot!
The old series weren't on top for that, the rd800 is now far better.
Show these sounds more on the net!
You've got something really impressive now,and with the supernatural engine it's a killer!

What i love too in these eps sound bank is the fact it's like a kind of "ep story"
The rd 800 is full of diverse eps sounds:
-all the new rhodes and wurly with the supernatural engine
-and a very impressive collection of diverse eps sounds from old series(roland sa type,fm type...etc)
All these sounds are really cool!
You can play 60/70/80/90..etc with all these colors without problem!

For me all these advantages are not as shown on the net(you scroll in your videos on some preset but too quickly because it was not your first intention)

Another thing:
There are some good tips for a live player(i know how roland think about a live set because i had 3 years a jupiter 80)
For exemple, you know like me you can save in a single live set 4 layers,BUT not only for layering.
I saved some own live sets with a selection of 4 single sounds in only one live set.
A live set can be programmed to recall 4 different sounds on the fly, very useful for some combinaison on stage.

Maybe my point of view is more "advanced user"point of view"
But i feel in some ways roland missed some potential buyers who don 't realize all the rd 800 advantages.
When i compare my rd800 and yamaha cp4(i love the 2 for sounds it's not the problem),i have to admit the roland completly destroy the yamaha workflow....yamaha can't compete with the rd for all the power en ease of use.
Yamah workflow is boring while roland workflow is so pleasant:-)))

To conclude, your videos(and you too) are really cool because everybody can see all is well done on the rd.
That's really a good point.
Thanks again!
