Recently I downloaded all the TV series of Nodame Cantabile for my friend who cannot play the piano for a while due to cancer treatment. I wanted to give her something light hearted and music related. Nodame seems to be perfect for her. Oh she loved it and l thought why not to share it with my friends at the forum.

Nodame series is a Japanese piano cartoon turned to TV series. It's a cute and funny story. However, humor in the movie is more like those used in three stooges. Please don't be offended. It's not representation of Japanese culture. Also the heroine's room is not tidy which is also not so typical, hence funny. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing this. I watched the first two episodes and doubt anyone will be offended.

Enjoy

I'm glad to hear that. This show became so popular in Japan that many amateur pianists play the 1st movement of Mozart piano sonata in d for 2 pianos (not the one with 4 hands). It is also contributed to increase in kids interest in piano.

I'm glad you all enjoyed. I love them all. There were a movies sequel made to the TV show. I will get the best version next week and post here next weekend. There are so many fragmented pieces floating around that I need to look for real ones. It will be fun for me too.

There were a couple of elderly folks who got concerned about Japanese "violence" contained in the piece. Those hitting each other routine are designed to be funny like those of three stooges but I learned some people take it seriously. I had to tell them "Japanese men are not known to be feminists but it's not ok to hit women in Japan either. Wife beaters are disdained as cowards as in the States".

I read the manga, too. I recommend it. The manga has the story after Nodame and Chiaki senpai moved to Paris. It made me want to go to Paris and learn the piano.

Yep. The sequel movie covers European part. Will get the link soon. I'm off to vet now to check my dog Charlie's eye. He got into a dog fight over a squeaky ball.

Just finished the first one. This will take some time! But I really enjoyed the first show and loved the music.

Thanks.

I look forward to the Sequel.
I gotta admit. The best part of the series is: (I won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it) The judge's remarks at the contest and the decision on first place. Absolutely beautifully wise!

EDIT: Also wanted to comment. The great meistro conductor. He's an overdone version of Seiji Ozawa. Isn't he? And Seiji is now back in Japan doing much teaching. smile
