The trio take with Jarrett from "The blue note" is worth listening to as well (http://grooveshark.com/#!/search/song?q=keith+jarrett+for+heaven's+́s+sake). And so is the Ben Webster version from the 70s something - that might be my favourite.

Technically he's brilliant but I always felt he was lacking in soul. His playing is too precise, too crisp, too clean.

Lacking in soul? Art is subjective but I think there are very many that would beg to differ.

KJ's virtuosity always serves the musical expression, there're no fireworks. You just can't play piano jazz any better then he does. His personality leaves a lot to be desired though - unfortunately - but Im over that.

To my ears he seems too focused on being overly precise with his rhythms and too cerebral with the harmonies. Just personal taste, but there's a lot of pianists who are just as sophisticated with harmony, and almost on par technically, but who are expressing something that comes from the heart rather than the intellect. I can't listen to Jarrett for lengthly periods of time, but I can listen to someone like Russ Freeman all day long.
