I have a yamaha Digital YDP-161.

Recently i heard that if i press a key in combination with another key the tone of that key is not fading away while i keep it pressed, but sounds only very short (as if i let go the key)
It's not in combination with all keys, only 1 i can remember for now.
The strange thing is that it does fade away correctly when it is the only key that is pressed.

And the "error" combination also fades away correctly when listening to it with a headphone,

What could be wrong?

Hi Johan,

That might be due to some dirt or small object trapped inside the key sensing mechanism.

If you have some time, you may try to disassemble your keyboard and check that.

Else, call the local Yamaha service.

Ciao,
Paolo

Any idea, where to begin to get the key out?
Although I don't think its the key, as it works well when listening to it with headphones...?

Hi Johan,

Oops, I guess I misunderstood your statement about 'the error combination also fading away when listening to it with a headphone'.

If the problem disappears when listening with a headphone I don't have the faintest idea what could cause it. Are you absolutely sure about that?

Ciao,
Paolo

Just to clarify, this occurs only with the on-board speakers, not with headphones?

Does this happen with any two keys, or just two in particular?

If it happens with on-board speakers but not headphones ... then it's your ears and room and head playing tricks on you.
