Hello, I am considering buying an upright Essex Piano EU123E (serial #131636C). The seller is asking $3000. Does anyone know the age of the piano and if it's worth the price?

I appreciate your input.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

I don't have a piano atlas, so unfortunately can't answer the age question. However I wanted to encourage you to play plenty of pianos before you drop 3k. There should be some nice upright options on the used market for that price. Perhaps you would come back to the Essex and decide it's the piano for you, but then you'd know for sure.

This comparison makes little sence and most Yamahas and Kawais would be a step up from Essex.

The reasons dealers represent certain brands or switch brands in a particular sales territory is often far more complicated than the bullet points written by the marketing department.

There's a lot of info in the Piano Buyer and the old Piano Book that discusses the veracity of various bits of "sales talk" and marketing you read in that link.

I have heard nice things about that particular Essex model from others, but have not spent enough time playing them myself to form an opinion.
