Hi all, I have a Casio Px700 which uses a 5 pins (straight) pedal jack. Now my sustain pedal is broken and I want to replace it. But all of the result I got online either use the 6" jack or MIDI. So my questions are:

1. My piano also have 2 6" line out (they were meant for headphones) and MIDI in/out, can I use the external pedal that way, how about MIDI ?

2. Is there any place that sells that particular pedal (the one that uses 5 pins) that I haven't come across ?

Many thanks

Hi,
the easiest would be just to check the contacts on your pedal or put on a new plug. Use a contact spray - it does wonders.

ps: It's not an 'electronic' piano. It's a digital piano. People keep confusing the two. Electronic pianos are the like of Rhodes and Wurlitzer wink

The problem lies not in the electronic side but in the mechanical side, the hinge of my sustain pedal is broken (think of it this way: it's like a door supported by a spring, whenever I press the pedal the spring pop it right up). Now with the hinge broken my only DYI fix is to rewire the sostenuto and soft pedal so either one of them will act as the sustain pedal frown

Contact Casio and see if they have a replacement pedal unit you can buy.

If you can't get a new pedal from Casio, and if your piano uses the same pedal connector that my Casio PX120 did (also a 5-pin straight connector) you might be able to substitute a different pedal with a strong metal hinge. The instructions are here:
