Looks like it's been about a year since we last had a piano get-together in Denver.

While Randy was working on my piano today, he and I were talking about getting the Denver piano group going again.

I'd be willing to host a get-together sometime in October, November, or December.

I'll also send out PMs to those who have shown interest in the past and let them know of this thread.

Looking forward to getting this group going again!

Couple of other things...

Randy may be willing to host in October. If he does that, I could host the next one after the first of the year.

I'm also thinking of starting a Meetup group to find other piano enthusiasts in the Denver area who would be interested in such a group.

If you don't check the forum regularly, please feel free to send me a PM with your E-mail address so I can start putting together a mailing list.

Any thoughts?

In the interest of expanding our group, I just created a Meetup!

Here's a link to the Meetup site: http://www.meetup.com/Denver-Area-Piano-Group/

Hi -

>Looks like it's been about a year since we last had a piano get-together in Denver.
I'm in. The last Denver area PW party one was only 6 mo ago at my place however (you missed it!)

I would have instigated it again, but the pieces I am working on are not coming along so quickly (bummer).

Thanks for making the call though. Looking forward. I could have some biz travel here and there, but I'll be in touch about that.

Best regards-

After ten summers in the high country, we've decided to sell the cabin and move back fulltime to Texas (and, wow, is it hot here!). So, alas, we'll not be able to attend parties in Denver any more. Sadly, you may as well take us off the list.

If anyone wants to buy a really cute fully furnished 2 bedroom, 1 bath house near Fairplay, mountain views, moose frequently in the yard, mosquito-free screened porch, dishwasher, washer-dryer, wood stove, t&g ceiling, skylights, perfect ski getaway - 30 min. to Breck and MUCH cheaper - or summer cabin, just let me know !!! $199,000 smile

It depends entirely on the weather, but I've loved the Denver parties. I'll check out the meet up group. . .

Randy has confirmed for Saturday, October 11 at 1:30PM!

Following is the notice I sent to the meetup group.

The Denver Area Piano Group is about to have its first meetup at the home and workshop of Randy Karasik.

Randy works as a piano tuner/technician, and also plays jazzy, improvisational piano music. Bring your sheet music with anything you'd like to play - any style of music you enjoy!

We'll also be joined by Denver area members of the Piano World forums, who have occasionally gotten together in the past for in-person meets.

Please RSVP and let everyone know if you can make it! Looking forward to the 11th, and meeting everyone!

---

Please send a private message to Randy Karasik or to me if you need the address or directions.

Also, I'd like to ask everyone participating in this thread to also join the Meetup group (http://www.meetup.com/Denver-Area-Piano-Group/) to stay current on happenings with piano get-togethers in the Denver area.

If you plan to come to the piano party on October 11th, please RSVP ASAP! Randy has only a few spots left (limit of about 12-15 people). So far we have about 12 RSVPs: We currently have 4 from the Meetup group: Tom Jimmy David Brenda And then from the forum, we have: Carl phacke Colin Randy (+ 1-2 guests he invited directly). So we're currently at 11 people! Please respond to this thread or the Meetup group if you plan to be there on the 11th!

I sent PMs to Inlanding and jotur to see if they're interested in coming on the 11th. I don't have any personal E-mail addresses or phone numbers for them; the only way I know to contact them is through the forum. Hopefully, they'll join this thread soon...

Thanks for the PM - I hadn't seen this pop up on my "haven't read" in black - just the casinitaly thread on links to interesting parties, sigh. Somehow we don't quite count there, eh? But I've got it in on my calendar, and it's too early for our usual snow, so maybe the weather will be fine! Thanks again for thinking of me! Cathy

Cathy, - the links thread I created was to get rid of all the stickies - basically every event on the first page was a sticky, which seemed to defeat the purpose of having them.

I have been really busy and haven't gotten back to adding in more. It's an ongoing project, like the "important info" thread in ABF.

Sorry that you, or anyone else, felt like your parties weren't interesting or important enough, that certainly wasn't my intention.

Thanks to Randy from here, too, and to Colin for lighting the fire. I had a great time - and I liked having the new folks there, too. The sheer variety of music we play, and the different approaches and styles, is inspiring. It makes for a great trip up.

What a great idea to have a piano party. I live in Australia, so probably NOT going to happen for me in Denver - I am however on a piano tour and will be playing solo piano at Boulder Piano and also at..... wait for it..... Lannies Clocktower Cabaret (with clothes definitely ON) LOL. The dates are Sat 8th and Sun 9th Nov

Forgive me, it is taking me some time to edit-down the rather extensive recording of the piano party that I seek to post, but I'm 80% done. In the interim, here is a picture I took up the road here in Colorado.

Nice snow. We usually have our first snow around Halloween, and maybe there's some on the mountains (I haven't been out yet this morning) but at the minute it's rain here at 7000 ft. I miss snow more often.

Hello again -

Here is the recording of the piano party at Randy's place (thank you!). I maxed out my sound cloud account with this recording, and I'm little surprised I got it all in there - and I'm actually not sure I did.

Anyway we had fun, with all kinds of great contributions.

This is on Randy's Steinway M, recorded with Tascam DR-07MKII

Best wishes-
