#2322658 - Yesterday at 01:10 PM Kawai MP6 and settings via MIDI

Hello every one.

I'm since a few days the happy owner of a Kawai MP6. I know: why not MP7? Because, at first, I wanted to get the VPC1. But I hate working with soft synths... So, the MP7 was my next choice. The issue there is that I do not like the look of the MP7 (sorry for that Kawai). I really like the way the MP6 is designed. The tech of the MP6 is really sufficient for my needs. Besides, it looks cool in my studio with my Moog Little Phatty!

Of course I have a question since this MP6 is my very first Kawai synth... I enjoy creating MIDI songs and sending all my settings at the beginning of the song. Very often I make only minor changes like the type of reverb. I'm used to create my own System Exclusive messages. Those are nowhere to find in the user's manual! So, my question is: is it possible to change the reverb, chorus and/or effects via MIDI with controllers or System Exclusive?

Thanks in advance for any reply! I really enjoy this forum!

Regards,

Lania

Hello Lania, congrats on your new MP6.

I personally love the modern styling of the MP7, but I understand that some folks prefer the more 'classic' look of the MP6.

No, I'm afraid not.

This is, however, possible on the MP7, and therefore documented in the MIDI Implementation appendix of the owner's manual.

Kind regards,
James

Thanks James!

I downloaded the manual of the MP7 and indeed: all the system exclusive data is there! It appears that the MP7 would have been a better choice after all...
Maybe not: I really like my MP6. I was surprised to read that it is multi-timbral (and General MIDI as well!): you don't expect that in a Stage Piano!
With no system exclusive available, I won't be sidetracked with only programming sounds and effects. I'm creating music again!

Kind regards,

Lania
