This is our family piano. It has been in our possession since 1992. We believe it was built around 1910 / 1920. It was made by the piano manufacturer Schellenberg in Trier, Germany. It is of black painted wood and has a traditional, classic look. We don't know which type of wood it is - please refer to the picture.
The sound is nice and rich. As far as I as an amateur player can tell, the piano is in tune. We haven't played it very often since 1999 - too little time. The keys are original, from ivory. It has a few scratches, mostly from the removal, cf the pictures. The key for the keyboard cover was already missing when we bought it .
The piano was moved from Berlin to London in autumn 2010. It was last tuned in March 2011. At this occasion the piano tuner told us that the wood of the piano was getting too dry. We thus largely stopped heating the room and bought a humidifier, and kept the humidity in the room always between 40 and 50 %. This is a non-smoking, pet-free household.
The measures of the piano are
height: 136 cm / 53.5 inches,
depth at the deepest part: 65 cm / 25.6 inches
width: 150 cm / 59 inches
It really breaks my heart to sell this piano, but it has to go, we're moving into a smaller flat, and there is no space for it. To loving hands please!
Please note: The painting on picture No 2 is not included in this auction.
