Has anyone ever encountered a Franz Schellenberg piano? Not finding anything about it anywhere. I worked on one yesterday. The action had been redone at some point as it looked much newer than the rest of the piano. It was generally in pretty good shape.

85 keys

Looks about 1850 but only because I had a piano like that; only one vertical cast iron beam about 2" thick, each string tied off. Same style fall board decal. MASSIVE wooden frame at the back.

I'd found here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Upright-piano-...n-/261242638475
This is our family piano. It has been in our possession since 1992. We believe it was built around 1910 / 1920. It was made by the piano manufacturer Schellenberg in Trier, Germany. It is of black painted wood and has a traditional, classic look. We don't know which type of wood it is - please refer to the picture.

The sound is nice and rich. As far as I as an amateur player can tell, the piano is in tune. We haven't played it very often since 1999 - too little time. The keys are original, from ivory. It has a few scratches, mostly from the removal, cf the pictures. The key for the keyboard cover was already missing when we bought it .

The piano was moved from Berlin to London in autumn 2010. It was last tuned in March 2011. At this occasion the piano tuner told us that the wood of the piano was getting too dry. We thus largely stopped heating the room and bought a humidifier, and kept the humidity in the room always between 40 and 50 %. This is a non-smoking, pet-free household.

The measures of the piano are
height: 136 cm / 53.5 inches,
depth at the deepest part: 65 cm / 25.6 inches
width: 150 cm / 59 inches

It really breaks my heart to sell this piano, but it has to go, we're moving into a smaller flat, and there is no space for it. To loving hands please!

Please note: The painting on picture No 2 is not included in this auction.
Please contact me for high resolution versions of the pictures.

Visiting times: If you want to have a look at the piano before bidding you can visit on Monday, July 15th between 1:30 - 3:30 pm, or on Friday July 19th between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.

The piano can be picked up in person or by courier in London Battersea, SW114EX. Must be picked up by July 28th!

Enjoy bidding!
