Sounds like the JBL LSR305 monitors are the best bang for the buck in terms of flat detailed response with the drawback of being a bit noisy.
I was initially planning to get the KRK RP5 G3 for my newcoming Kawai VPC1, but after sifting some blogs I eventually moved to the LSR305s. Although they might sound perfect for DP application, many complain about a constant hiss-noise coming out of them.
Any experience?
What would be a no-noise alternative?

thanx smile

If the noise can be reduced by level controls on the speakers, you might be able to drive them at a higher level from the computer. If the noise is there regardless, I wouldn't buy them.

It's strange. I have two JBL LSR 305 and for now are very nice. I don't hear any hiss-noise... Are you sure the noise is from the monitors and not from cable, computer or audio interface?

First, I really love my LSR305s. They are fantastic.

When I first got them, there was a noise/hiss that I was concerned about. And as you mentioned, it is a common issue that is discussed. But as you have found, the reviews are extremely positive.

For me, I was able to reduce and nearly eliminate the hiss by switching the plugs to a non-ground outlet (this was suggested in another thread here on PW). Now, I do not notice the hiss at all. I will say that my setup is in a very quiet room, so any noise is very apparent.

In any case, I love the JBLs and highly recommend them.

Honestly I don't have any direct experience with them, but according to what I was reading they hum even when unplugged from any sound source.....I guess it has to do with the power source.....
