I am looking for a used Kawai GM-10K ( $6.5K) and found a used Kawai GE 1 at $4200. Should I buy it?
are they similar Piano? I was looking at the Yamaha GB1 also but decided to go with more classical feel on the GM-10K, my kid's teacher suggested me to buy a grand piano for them because both of my young children are moving fast on their class and she said will be better for them to have a more weighted feel on a piano to practice on daily. we are currently using a Roland KR-103 digital weighted keys

please help! both my husband and I don't have much knowledge on piano and our living room is too small for a real grand piano :-) live in Santa Monica CA USA

Hi, I suppose you better post his in the Piano forum instead of in the FAQ of the Piano Forum.

Anyway, all mentioned names are the very entry level models of the brands as far as I know. You might be better of buying a used grand piano which is a little bigger. In this case bigger is really better.

I agree with wimpiano on both counts - post this in the correct section for more answers.

You are looking at used, entry-level, very small grand pianos. Speaking as a teacher, I would not perceive of much of a benefit in the actions of these over a better quality 48"+ vertical piano, and the tone of the vertical pianos would likely be better and smoother, with better response in the bass (in particular).

With a budget under $7k, I would suggest looking for the best vertical piano you can find. The better used grand pianos (of more appropriate size and quality for more advanced students) are still going to be more expensive than this. There is both general and specific information about purchasing and selecting a piano in the Piano Buyer, which you can read for free and is linked to the side of this page.
