This is a very easy 2 part piece, but use of the pedal fills out the sound.

I don't think I have the discipline to write something like this. If I start out simple, it always ends up getting more and more difficult as the piece goes on. grin

I wonder what a Polyphonist piece would sound like if it weren't texturally dense or fast-paced. laugh

The only thing I can think of is the beginning to the E major imrpov, which is rather dry by comparison, but it gets less dry in a matter of seconds. grin

When I read this thread earlier only Polyphonist had responded. I was going to comment that I know very well the temptation to take something simple and build on it. If I made this piece any longer I might have succumbed to that temptation which is why I chose to wrap it up instead. That and the theme didn't concept me into making more of it than I did.

Joel, I'd appreciate it if you commented on my piece which is the subject of this thread.

I can't comment on it. I don't have access to a piano right now. It's 11pm here.

Steve,

If you post a recording or midi, I could offer some comments.

It's a fun concept, but I think it's a little drawn out for how simple it is.

Steve, if I may make a request ... Would you consider adding slurs or some other phrasing indicators that would help the pianist shape the piece a little better? I am thinking of letting a couple kids sight-read this and I figure that, as simple as it is, some sort of phrase-marking can really help. (And may be a PDF version so I can make more legible print outs for sight-reading. wink )

Hi Ax,

I'd be happy to, although I do feel the pedal indications make some of the intent clear, but I'll add in some slurs because they are needed in at least a few spots. PDF will be the easy part. Send me a PM with your email and I'll try to send you something soon.
