It saddens me to post this news.

Barry Arnaut, better known to everyone in the music industry as Bear, has passed away.
His son John posted the following on Facebook this morning.
John Arnaut

Hello everyone I just wanted to say thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for my father. He was in hospice for over a week and has just passed away this morning at 8:30AM thank you guys for thinking of us and all you thoughts and prayers - make sure you tell all your loved ones you love them, time can go by in a flash

Kathy and I knew Bear not only from the industry (NAMM, dealers, etc.), but also had the pleasure of visiting he and his wife at their beautiful condo in Florida a few times.

He was one of the nicest, kindest, most genuine people I've ever had the privilege of knowing.
The matter what the situation he had something positive to say.

I can see why manufacturers wanted him for a rep, he could charm anyone. But it wasn't for show, it was who he was.

I'm saddened by his loss, but happy I knew him.

Frank & Kathy

Thank you Frank for letting us know here. Your words are a very special tribute to "Bear".
We knew that his days were coming to an end, but the end is always a time of pain and grief for family and friends.
"Bear" was a busy poster on Piano World and his friendly, helpful posts reflected the kind of man you have described in your epitaph.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences to "Bear's" family and friends.

Thank you for posting this Frank:

I knew Bear for nearly 20 years during my tenure with Kawai. He was one of the most genuine, friendly and honest reps I have ever met. His warm handshake and every-ready smile could disarm even the most vitriolic encounter, and I cherish the many events we worked together.

The industry has lost a true Gentleman.

Such sad news. I first met Barry in 1994. He was a kind and warm individual who represented the lines he worked with as if he was responsible for making them. He was always ready to pitch in and help on events and with guidance when asked even we he personally had nothing to gain by helping. Bear will be missed by all of us who knew him. May he R.I.P.

I called Barry just last month after hearing he was going to hospital. I had no idea until today how serious it was. He never let on. In fact, as usual, I was the one who felt better after having chatted with him. I know he appreciated the call.
My deepest condolonces to Anita and John and family. Barry was an industry hero. Ray Chandler

I never had Barry as a rep. I only knew him from the industry - and from phone conversations we had over the years, especially since he "retired".

He shared readily, mentored naturally, and spoke freely. This is a rare thing.

Thank you Barry,
