Has the Chopin waltz in B-flat major (the 18th waltz) owned by Arthur Hedley ever been recorded? (I'm guessing not or it would likely have been published).

The Waltz No. 18 normally refers to the "Sostenuto" Waltz in E-flat Major, which is published and is the one played here by Roberto Metro:

Arthur Hedley did not own this: he claimed to have seen it in a private English collection. Some time ago I saw what what was claimed to be a photograph of the title page to this manuscript (in the collection of the then-Chopin Society library in Warsaw), but there was no way to ascertain if that is actually what it was. The piece - if it exists - has neither been published nor recorded.

I will take this opportunity to mention that I have created a transcription of this waltz, which can be found here:

Thanks Michael. I know the piece you are referring to. The piece I am referring to is sometimes referred to as the "18th waltz" that I had read was held privately but never published. It is also sometimes referred to as the "20th waltz".

I believe that is in F sharp minor, not B flat major.

It seems that different sources note the "unpublished" B flat waltz as a different number.

Btw, I recall reading that the F# minor waltz (which is rather beautiful) was actually composed by Charles Mayer.

Maybe you can do some recording/performing and bill yourself as a golden age pianist.
