I'm sitting here listening to some Oscar Peterson music and I'm curious to know where are his pianos?
I guess this can be said about any of the famous pianists;where are their pianos?
Just a late night thought.....

last year, after his death, van cliburn's estate auctioned off his mothers 1869 bechstein and his 1916 Steinway D and split the proceeds to Julliard and Moscow conservatory. There was a lot of history in those pianos. The mother studied with Arthur Freidman

There's a Gershwin piano at the library of congress IIRC (at least it's somewhere at a government institution in DC), and another at Michigan State. The Michigan State Steinway is restored and in active use.

The Waldorf Astoria has one of Cole Porter's Steinways, a 1907. Reports vary as to whether it's playable.

Same difference. (Says the woman who once owned a "Not Penn State" tee shirt during her undergraduate years at the University of Pennsylvania.)
