My VPC1 finally shipped and I am looking for piano stand for it.

But I wanted something that adjusts down to 20 inches so my daughters feet can touch the ground.

Then I found a bunch of youtube videos that describes using Gibraltar drum racks as a piano stand by adding two 20-inch bars with feet upside down along the top sides.

It seems to be very strong, infinitely adjustable, and there's a ton of accessories like a laptop stand, and clamps for a sheet holder.

Do you think it's viable, or should I go for something like a K&M Omega and just raise the pedals with a box?

Hello Joe, welcome to the forum.

I don't have any experience with using drum racks as keyboard stands, but provided it's stable and can support the weight, it may work.

Regardless of what you end up doing, I would love to see a picture of your daughter playing the VPC1! wink

Cheers,
James

Hey all,

New here as well, been browsing for the last few days. Saw this thread and remembered this thread on another forum that might be of help:

Gibraltar keyboard rack

Hope this helps!

Thanks Stellvia for the helpful link. I've decided to go for it since it seemed to meet my needs perfectly.

Thanks James for all your helpful posts. It was one of the major factors in helping me decide to get a VPC1. As promised, here are the pics. Sorry for the delay. It took a while to gather all the parts.

Assembled:

With VPC1:

I'm still not happy with how the crossbar gets in the way of the music rack, and the where the laptop stand ended up. I'll probably move the crossbar below the keyboard and and add a side extension for the laptop.

Other than that, it's working out well. Height is adjustable to exactly what I want. Very sturdy, no worries about leaning into keyboard.

Thanks for the kind words JoeF!

Wow, that actually works really well - thank you for sharing the pics.

...and that little chair is so cute!

Cheers,
James
