hello;

I've been poring over posts without contributing for some time, and I've done a search yielding no info:

Anyone here ever dealt with the Piano Exchange of New York (Long Island)? They advertise a number of interesting used & rebuilt instruments, and I wonder if anyone can attest to their quality.

thanks!

Hi, Troyboy.

I'm only responding because no one else has so far. I visited the Piano Exchange about 20 years ago when I started looking at pianos. (That's why more current info would be helpful.)

The place was crowded with many pianos of all vintages, in various states of repair, some unassembled. It was tough even maneuvering through the instruments to try them out. I can't remember if I saw anything there worth considering. The feel of the place didn't inspire confidence, but who knows -- there might have been some diamonds in the rough there.

Of course, maybe the place is different now.

Since you're in Conn., maybe there's a car ferry to Glen Cove, or somewhere on the North Shore not too far from there. Worth a trip?

Also in Conn. (Greenwich) is a seller of rebuilt instruments, whose place is called the Pyrianos Collection. I can't remember the name of the lady who owns it right now, but I did look at a very nice Faust-rebuilt Steinway C for sale at her place before she formally went into business. Of course, Greenwich may mean top dollar.

Happy shopping, wherever you go. smile

Joe

I posted on usenet a few weeks ago trying to get info about them with no luck. They list many interesting pianos on ebay, under the seller ID of "pianoblue". I was planning on taking a ride out there soon.

But still the only one talking about this shop. Did any of you ever visit?

So let me get this straight in my mind. In 2003, somebody posted that he had been to a store 20 years earlier- i.e. in 1983.

Jolly useful information. Joe, do you happen to remember if they had any Estonias in the store? If so what size, prices etc?
