It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
I have a Roland FP7F. I will probably never use it for performing, but the sound from the tiny speakers isn't cutting it for practice, so I want an amp.
Can someone recommend a good amp for this purpose? I don't need tons of power or a lot of weird digital effects. If it's loud enough for a living room, I'll be happy.
TheloniousPunk, I opened this thread to suggest the KC-110. There's a really good review of it from pianomanchuck (who frequents this forum and is not affiliated with roland) here:
Honestly, for a digital piano monitor speakers or a powered PA is the way to go instead of an amp. For the use you describe, you can probably even get away with a quality set of computer speakers. What's your budget? Knowing that we can better help you narrow down some selections.
I was hoping to stay under $200. I have been told that bass amps work well for pianos, so I am thinking of sticking a piezo tweeter in one of my guitar cabinets and connecting it to a Bassman clone I built.

If you want to stay under $200 get a nice pair of computer / multimedia speakers. They will sound much better with a DP than a guitar amp.
This is an aptly timed thread for me since I have been wondering about either a small amp or powered monitors for the last couple of weeks. I am currently using headphones (Sony 7506 based on reviews here at PW) and they sound much better than my KB internal speakers, much better bass and clarity.
That said, I wouldn't mind not having to wear them all the time, especially if I am expecting a phone call, or a visitor. What concerns me is that my KB (Casio 230R) does not have a "line out", it just has the headphone out. Is this a sufficient output for powered monitors, or a small KB amp?
BTW, I do like the idea of using a computer speaker set up. I have a Klipsch sub and satellites on my computer and they sound absolutely wonderful.
That's a pretty limited budget. I think the Behringer B208D is pretty decent. Some people like the Roland CM-30. Or you might go the studio monitor approach, if your setup lends itself to it... a pair of KRK Rockit 5, or something in the Behringer Truth or PreSonus lines could be in your price range, maybe someone else can advise about those, I haven't heard them.
