Will a solid state hybrid disk drive be good for running the likes of Ravenscroft and synthogy ivory softwares.
I've seen a seagate 3.5" desktop 1tb SSHD for £59 and want to run all my piano softwares including Ravenscroft which I'm about to purchase on 1 large drive .
Will the SSHD work just has fast has a SSD for VSTs

SSHD's when I tried to use one showed up as 2 drives in my windows finder. I returned it. It was complicated.

Not sure - good question. If there was a way to lock the sample files into the SSD part of the drive, I'd like that.

I used it for a new build but abandoned it. I think the idea's time has come and gone. You can get a really nice 240 gig ssd for reasonable.
I had used one when they first came out and don't remember it as showing as two, but this last one did.

The key is understanding how an SSHD works and how much SSD there is in it (it can vary a lot). An hybrid disk will cache the most frequently performed tasks in the SSD part (it will "learn"). If your libraries are larger than the SSD component it won't be able to cache them.... So I don't think it's a good idea for big piano libraries.

I tried to use 2 of them on an Asus Impact VI on an Intel Raid out of the bios. That might have been why it showed the SSD and the disk portion as two separate things but I really am not sure why. If I had set the drive controller to AHCI instead it might have mounted as a single.
