OP daz100 Full Member D Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 234	Will a solid state hybrid disk drive be good for running the likes of Ravenscroft and synthogy ivory softwares. I've seen a seagate 3.5" desktop 1tb SSHD for £59 and want to run all my piano softwares including Ravenscroft which I'm about to purchase on 1 large drive . Will the SSHD work just has fast has a SSD for VSTs Kawai CA99PE,True keys American,Ivory Grand pianos, Pianoteq 8 and Ravenscroft

You can get a really nice 240 gig ssd for reasonable. I had used one when they first came out and don't remember it as showing as two, but this last one did.

An hybrid disk will cache the most frequently performed tasks in the SSD part (it will "learn"). If your libraries are larger than the SSD component it won't be able to cache them.... So I don't think it's a good idea for big piano libraries. That might have been why it showed the SSD and the disk portion as two separate things but I really am not sure why. If I had set the drive controller to AHCI instead it might have mounted as a single.
