I am currently using a p105, not sure if i will be keeping it or not - but I am looking for a good pair of headphones to use with this digital piano. I have a budget up to $150.

Sennheiser 380 Pro - $115 at Amazon (closed back, if you need/desire that - if not, I'd recommend one of the two phones below)

Sennheiser HD 598 - $160 at Amazon (open back - comfortable - really good-sounding - a bargain at this price)

Beyer DT990 Pro 250 ohm - $185 at Amazon - $35 mail-in rebate (purchase by 12/24) drops price to $150 (also open back - slightly more "revealing" than the 598's, esp, in the highs which may be emphasized a bit - there are several models, the Pro 250 ohm is the one to get)

I own and use all three of these headphones.

Are you using any external amp for these? or are you outputting directly from the keyboard?

You might try the AKG 240 MkII as well.

Disclaimer: I am hearing impaired and wear a rather expensive set of hearing aids. They have, in fact, changed my life. For #%@^$ sake I have been playing my stereo again for the first time in nearly 30 years, and most importantly I am now learning how to play the piano.

I searched this same topic a few months ago and saw several recommendations you are getting now along with the Sony 7506. In my previous life I'd had a pair of expensive sennhieser's that I honestly grew to dislike the longer I owned them. And I laughed with glee when they were stolen in an apartment break-in. I still sometimes think about that poor thief thinking he had stolen some great loot while I knew differently.

I searched other keyboard forums and a few audiophile sites and found a near universal approval of the inexpensive (less than a $100 msrp) Sony's. Then I spent some quality time at a couple of music shops listening to all the models I could. What I learned surprised me a bit. My old battered eardrums could discern no difference in headphones between a $100 and anything more than about a $150. Similarly I could detect quite a difference, most notably a lack of bass, in nearly all headphones less than about $75.

With confirmation from both piano and audiophile forums along with using my own four ears (I joke) I decided on the Sony's. It take a couple of months for the prices to drop low enough for me to afford them (I had set a $100 limit on myself). Luckily holiday pricing came to my rescue a couple of weeks ago and I snagged a pair.

Have found them to be nearly perfect. My biggest worry was that they looked heavy, however it turns out they are not and are comfortable for at least two hours at a time. The only flaw, if it is one, is that the cable could be a bit longer. And I only say that because I find myself sitting on a stool listening to my stereo in the wee hours with the headphones on, then when I stand up I remember just how old I am!

Just order a pair of them now while you can still get holiday pricing, even with shipping I was well under a $100.

In the right price bracket:

Shure SE215 in-ear monitors.

Good isolation from outside noise, comfortable, good sound.

I have these, and I like the sound from them VERY much. But be careful with them, they break really easily..

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, very comfortable and excellent sound.

I've used the Sony MDR-V6 for years with my clavinova and strongly recommend them. The Sony 7506 is basically the same with gold connectors. I find them comfortable to wear for hours at a time, and the quality of sound is incredible.

Check AKG K 271 MkII too. Have used them for 2 years so far and cannot imagine it can be easily broken.
I guess it is closed version of 240 MkII.

That AKG was what I was using with my DP, until I bought my Grado SR 325 is.

Until I had the Grado, the AKG was easily the best-sounding headphones I'd ever used (and I've had Sennheisers and Sonys in the past) in terms of naturalness, and I still use it if I need the noise insulation. It's also very comfortable (more so than the Grado, unless it's warm....), and seemingly bomb-proof - the cord is detachable, it comes with two sizes of gold-plated plugs, and it adjusts instantly to the size of your head.

I've had the AKG for as long as my DP (over four years), and it still looks & feels as good as new.

My experience is with the Sennheiser HD-201 ($20), which is very good. But for almost the same price ($25), you can get the HD-202, which has much better bass.

I'm using audiotechnica tad400. Great.

I prefer the half open concept of the 240. I don't find them fragile at all - mine have fallen to the ground many times without noticeable consequences (not that I would recommend that to you). They come with a detachable cord (two versions), are self-adjusting in size and very comfortable to wear.

I own too many headphones. My favorite is the Sennheiser HD598.

That makes me feel good Dave. Amazon had them for 99 bucks on Black Friday so i got my son and son-in-law each a pair. My experience with a pair of 600's has been wonderful so i figured these were worth a shot at that price. Can't say much for the color but it differentiates them!

I use a pair of Behringer HPX6000 headphones , with my Roland RD300NX fantatastic piece of kit and the bass is superb.

Try to audition any headphones before you buy them. I use a test cd that runs a slow frequency sweep from below 20 Hz to 20 kHz. It will show up deficiencies, especially buzzes and resonances in the actual headphones.
