I've just entered "Kawai CA67" into Google, which I assume would be the name of the new model after the CA65.

It brings up a German site with some spec info but no photo.

It states that 2 Kawai grands have been sampled, a new Shigeru wing sample.
New GF2 keyboard.
256 note polyphony
Virtual technician with 19 parameters.
New 6 speaker system with upward facing tweeters.
New headphone spacial sound.
New colour- premium White.

Are these specs genuine?
Does anyone know if a new CA series will be announced?

It doesn't actually say CA67 on the page though. I think it's a false hit - it's just the current CA95.

Agree, it doesn't say CA67 anywhere on that page, no price and no photo.

However I've put the specs through a translator and they are different to the current CA series.

For example this German site mentions the "Grand Feel 2" keyboard.

Anyway I suppose we'll found out in a few days at Namm.

James had confirmed that Kawai will be announcing some new products.

Here is the text of this page (I leave it others to translate). The designation is only in the URL and in the header of the page. The text is actually speaking of two models, one with and the other without soundboard.

Kawai CA Digital Piano

- Neues Design
- Premium Weiss Finish

Thanks Thomas,

If this is genuine then it seems a fairly substantial upgrade.

2 sampled pianos like the new Yamaha 500 series.
Individual counter weights like on the CLP585.
Spacial headphone sounds similar to the 3D effect on the Roland HP's.
Also like the idea of white and a new design sounds interesting.

If the pricing is similar to the 65/95 then it seems excellent value and will be on my list of potential future upgrades.

Kawai James is normally very responsive to any Kawai related thread. The fact that he hasn't joined in on this one could be a sign of something... wink

What's wrong with the CA-95 speakers ? Sounds pretty decent. Only thing I can come up with is that for the non-AP sounds and the sound-input, the CA speaker configuration sounds quite 'indirect'. I guess that's why they seem to have placed the CA-97 mid/tweaters in such a way that the sound is more directed towards the player. That will give it a more brilliant / direct sound.

Kawai samples became a bit long in tooth; the technology advanced over HI - PHI - UHPI - HIXL, but the original sample material is still the same. Also I really hope they jumped the flash storage bandwagon so we can enjoy unlooped samples at last !!

See nothing wrong with the current GF keybed, but I guess they may have given it HiRes MIDI output , since Roland and Casio started to bring out boards that support that.

If this is all enough to have me swap my CA_95 for a CA-97 remains to be seen. CA95 is already a nice sounding piano and if you couple that with additional software sounds (Pianoteq, Ivory etc), I don't see a direct reason to upgrade. For new buyers or 'upgraders' from lower model boards the CA-97 will probably tick all boxes and be a very nice offering !

Nice find. Prices quoted were 3200 € for the CA97 and 2300 € for the CA67.

Thomann doesn't have the CA65 listed anymore, while the CA95 got a 20 % discount. So it's happening. smile

Yeah, its a sign that he's not allowed to comment/participate on anything (imagined or real) that may or may not be coming to NAMM (just like most of the other major manufacturers).

Is there any indication that this "Grand Feel II" action is going to be incorporated into a stage piano model anytime soon.

We don't even know what a GF2 action actually is and Kawai hasn't even announced it yet - and you want an update of which models are going to get it? grin

So while we are at it that means you do see something wrong, tell us more laugh

Two negatives result in a positive in English, in Spanish that's not the case where double negatives are used.

I'll not comment on the spelling of marvellous since it is common to butcher the language. No wonder we have separated UK English and US English, because we'll have none of that over here. grin

... but why should I care, I am from that flat country The Netherlands with a horrible sounding language. I just happen to live in the UK and should have no say in such matters. :P

I don't know why, when I try to spell things the American way (when writing a general post here in PW, or replying to an American), my MacBook 'corrects' me, when everyone knows apples are as American as........apple pie wink .

Do they change colors (to colours) when informed that they were going to find homes across the pond?

OK, they're probably made in China anyway, but surely their programmers (or programers?) are American?

I very much doubt there will be an MP12 this time round as its still quite new. However, I am interested in the possibility of a new version of the Kawai ES7. There is almost certain to be new model in my opinion hopefully with better samples, on board speakers and key action. Fingers crossed.
