I have been asked if I would like to make an offer for this one.

Of course the answer is yes, but I don't think my bank would be very happy!

I'm not sure if this is meant humorously or not!

That piano does two things to me:

1. makes me go "ugghhh"
2. makes me think of wedding cake frosting.

It's a 1961 Hamburg Steinway. It doesn't appeal to me. I think that style is hideously overdone but some people like it

I LOVE it!

of course you'd need a proper pumpadour powdered wig to complete the look while playing it.

Philliiiip!

I am buying for a different dynamic from most of you. I can't say it appeals to me but might well appeal to some clients! I am not going to make an offer but if I did I would put that one in the music room and move the B into the ballroom. That one would look lost in a ballroom.

As Mahler once said, "If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not bother trying to say it in music."
So, the piano designer is telling us what exactly with this design? That piano is quite something, and someone will love it. Thanks for sharing. I wonder what it sounds like.

I don't know a thing about condition. Being a Hamburger there is obviously potential there!

I would rather have a Hamburger from 1961 than a New Yorker given the choice (This depends on the actual piano as well too).

The cabinet is a negative to most, but there are folks who would love it. There are many more folks who appreciate the work needed to make it. Some of those people buy just for that. Still others will buy the instrument and not care what it looks like.

Good luck Philip!

The rococo style cabinet is a work of art in itself and the piano, depending on its condition and history of care and maintance could be a delight to play and hear.
To me it is an "objet d'art" and something to be treasured.

Kind regards,

Robert.

If I had a 'suitably styled salon' to put it in, and the money to buy it, I'd be making an offer in a heartbeat. Beautiful. I am of course female, which may make a difference here smile

I could see it in one of crazy Ludwig's castles, or a couple of Las Vegas abodes. Maybe even a wedding chapel.

... or in the setting of the closing scene of "2001, A Space Odyssey."
