I am going to buy a used Yamaha upright piano for my 5 years-old daughter from a friend.
My friend asked for NZD700, and didn't know how old it is.
Would someone tell me about it? I could only find a number 19673 and NO.300 NIPPON GAKKI SMM on this piano.
Some keys are a little bit loose, said might be a moisture problem.
Would it suitbale for a beginer and worth buying?

It looks really nice to me, if its not too dear.

I really like the thick pins and smooth termination points in the last photo.

It's almost 80 years old.

Wow, I think that's the oldest Yamaha I've ever seen. Quite impressive on that basis alone!

Very cool piano! The loose keys could be indicative of worn keys bushings. It is always best to have a tech check out a piano before purchase. It sure looks as if it has the potential to sound magnificent!

So much music and so little time!

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinion.
I think I will not consider this piano at the moment.

Totally understand your decision, based on the family requirements of the piano.

However, from the photos shown above this piano seems to be in excellent shape for its age. If this piano was in my neck of the woods, I would bring my RPT to at least check it out.

If it turned out that the piano was really in good shape, and could be brought in tune with the action working properly for say under $500, I would buy this in a heartbeat. My guess is there are very few properly working Yamaha uprights of this age still in existence.

Regardless, good look in your search.
