I'm interested in finding software (or an iPad app) that emulates what many digital pianos already do natively - that is I'd like to have styles that follow (in realtime) the chords that I'm playing on my piano.

My DP can do this, but the native styles pale against something like what comes with software such as Band-in-a-Box (BIAB). Unfortunately, it seems that the BIAB styles require chords to have been input into BIAB ahead of time. I'm interested in finding something that would follow chords being played by me on my DP in realtime (hooked to the computer or iPad thru MIDI of course) and does not require having any chords input into it beforehand.

Does such an animal exist?

I'm aware of an iPad app called "iReal Pro" which seems to be similar to what BIAB offers on the PC, but I'm not sure if it would follow my chord inputs in realtime....(I don't own the app at this point.)

So, is there any way to do this using a PC or iPad?

You could buy a modular unit such as the Roland BK-7m that would do what you want but at a cost of over 600.

My arranger is a Yamaha Tyros 5 76key but that was 3700.

Or how about this smile

Similar program - Real-time Style Performer http://lotal.narod.ru/ - and it's free.
Afaik uses Yamaha PSR styles and is (was?) based around the same style engine as OMB.
Both programs are designed to use Yamaha PSR/Tyros styles, so if You want to use ready-made styles, for best results You should have a Yamaha XG (or XG Lite) compliant tone generator.

Nope - I just bought iReal Pro for iOS. While it has lots of nice features, it appears that auto-accompaniment isn't one of them.

Thanks for the other suggestions, guys. I'll look into them.
