Does anyone have any videos or audio clips of the sympathetic resonance sound in the MP11? I have only been able to find one video demonstrating it, and it was not recorded well so it was hard to hear. Is it convincing, or sloppy sounding?

Joe, I'm not sure string/damper resonance is demonstrated in any of the MP11 product videos that I've seen, however the same feature is often explained in demo videos for Kawai's console instruments such as the CA97/CA67 and CA95/CA67.

You can also hear examples of the different resonances on the KawaiMP.com website under the 'Virtual Technician' section of the 'Sound' page.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

I've heard at least one other person asking about 'sympathetic resonance' on the Kawai. My understanding is that sympathetic resonance is excitation of other strings with common undertones or overtones when you play a note. For example, if I hold down middle C on the MP10 w/o making a sound, and play the C below it, I hear a resonance. I also get one with F,G,A, etc - at different locations on the key bed and at different pitches/volumes. To me it feels very realistic - like it makes me think there are strings in there somewhere.

I don't know what Kawai calls this - but I know there are a few resonance settings in the technician menu.
