Experienced a sort of pain in the neck little storm today after our big one a few days ago. I went out and plowed us out. I got cocky walking back to the house from where I park my truck. I slipped and fell. I broke my fall with my left hand. I bruised the base of my hand pretty good. Looks like I may have ruptured a blood vessel in my wrist. It's sore. But,not broken thank goodness. I'm more shaken up than I realized at first. I just hope my wrist is functional tomorrow. I'm too old to be doing this. This was a wake up call. I'll be more careful the rest of the year. More snow expected Sunday night into Monday. This winter has hit us hard.

Hope your wrist will be better soon, and do be careful out there smile

I pray, that tomorrow I may strive to be a little better than I am today - and, on behalf of everybody else, I give thanks for headphones.

Take care and take your favorite meds!
Last time I slipped, I felt like I had been in a car crash.

Consider a pair of Yaktrax Traction Cleats*. My wife has a pair and swears by them. She has yet to slip on any icy surface while wearing them.

LL Bean sells something similar. Yup, I should have been wearing them. The trouble is I was driving my truck plowing. Can't wear them during that. It was just a short walk to the house. I'm paying for my lack of attention. My hand is quite sore. And my back isn't too happy either. I have a wrist brace I can wear tonight sleeping. I don't know if wearing it would be a good thing or not. Not falling would have been best.

Indeed, but it's always a bit of a risk in snow country. May your recovery be speedy!

Oh, goodness. I hope you feel better soon and that this is the worst of it. I hope it's one of those things where you hurt yourself and then you kind of feel the worst about 8-10 hours later when the soreness sets in, but then it subsides quickly over the next day or two.

Best wishes...

D, thankfully it seems that your injury is minor. The only thing is don't be shy if something seems wrong... go see a doctor. Sometimes it is the smallest of things....

Well . . . I'd stay away from the piano for a while. And probably typing, eating, grabbing things . . . .

Get well soon!

I fell down with the ladder last summer...about a 2½ meter fall. Knocked me out for a second or two.
Missed piano practice for a few days after that. That gravity can sure suck you in.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

By last night, I felt like I'd been hit by a train. But, more with it this morning. The bruise on my left hand/wrist is deep.

Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of a "practice challenge" put out by my teacher. Of course, I could bow out. I'd like to think I can stay in it and manage some practicing every day. I practiced only 30 minutes yesterday. That's not near enough for what I am working on.

Hopefully, as I move around today I'll loosen up. I've come off horses enough to know that my body's reaction last night was part of the shock to my system. As that wears off, it will get better. At 63, I am too old to be having my feet go out from under me and nearly cracking my head!!! As I said, "The fall was a wake up call." I'll be paying better attention to what I'm doing from here on in.

feeling good it not the best indication you are right to practice. so it is baby steps for the next few days and use the R.I.C.E. method (rest, ice, compress, elevate) for soft tissue injuries.

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

+1 for RICE
Have you still got one uninjured (less injured) hand that you could practice with?
