I took it once before and am currently taking it again. Coursera is offering a free course from Berklee School of Music called, "Developing your musicianship"

It is free, and you don't even have to do the homework (though, you should). At this point, we are four weeks in to the six week course, but all the video lessons are archived and you can watch them all. Even if you don't do the group projects, or the ones that are past due, it is a great experience to "hear" what the lessons about intervals and scales are sounding like. It is one thing to see the interval on the sheet of music, but training your ear to hear it is what this course is about.

The more I go through these things, in all forms, they start to meld together and I feel like I am understanding more and making real progress.

Jump in, watch the videos (starting from week 1) and let me know if it helped enlighten your ear in any way.

I'm currently going through the videos and they do help bring everything together.

I took the first two weeks of this course.
It was easy to follow and interesting.
The teacher's mucical style wasn't really to my personal taste, so I quit, but don't let that put people off trying.

Yes, my daughter is a singer and laughs every time he tries to sing the intervals. But, I can mentally skip past that part and am learning a lot about the makeup of scales, triads, and now major and dominant 7th chords. And, for my money, learning the minor pentatonic scale has been the best. I play that on my ukulele and now with the piano, I can "jam" along with the blues.

I took the course last year, it's very nice. I can still remember the pentatonic scale only because the teacher made up that silly song! Cool guy.

i just took first week. Interesting. Anything to add to my knowledge is good. Time to go to weekly lesson now.

I'm now caught up and on Lesson 5. Some of the information early on is pretty basic but I like his teaching style and he pulls the information about the blues, 7th chords and pentatonic scales together in an easy to understand format. The 735 rule was new to me. All good stuff to know, even for classical pianists.

The sixth and final lesson was released today. Not sure how long the videos stay up after the class ends next week. So, if you have any interest in finishing them up (or starting them) now is your chance.

I'm on 2 of those courses, this one among them, and I believe the videos stay up for 60 days after finish of the course, or so I was told.
I always download all lessons anyway, to be sure to have them to go back to.

You can also download those videos and watch them anytime you want. I took that course last year and it really helps. It is elementary, but the pentatonic scale and the 7th chord info was really helpful. George Russell has a great teaching style. That has been a really popular course for Berklee and Coursera. The supplemental Berklee performances that he posts are awesome! Some of those kids are so talented.
