My DP is a Casio Privia PX-350 and I have it right now at church set up in a standard X-stand. However, its height from the floor to the top of the white keys is 30 and a half inches. I wanted to see if there was any stand that would be low enough to reach the Grand Piano height of 28-29 inches from the floor to the top of the white keys. The DP itself measures 4 inches high, so I guess the ideal lowest position for a stand would be 24 or 25 inches. Is there any stand like that?

TL;DR: Looking for recommendations on a piano stand that goes low enough to have a standard Grand Piano floor to white key height of 28-29 inches.

The Casio CS-67 is intended for the PX-350. With the PX-350 attached it will give you 28.5" to the top of the white keys. And of course, if you're playing some church piano, you'll want the SP-33 three pedal system.

I do have the Casio stand at home, ElmerJFudd. And it is an excellent stand. I pretty much put the Privia on it as soon as I get home and practice using that stand. But I'm looking for something portable that I can take to a gig that is able to a few inches lower than my X-stand. I'm not sure if there is any such stand so that's why I'm asking.

Maybe the KS105 KS7150 stand, modified to be lighter and a bit lower here.

The P105 is really tough due to its excessive case height. The modified stand itself measures 25 1/4" tall. And it's a bit heavier than I would like - it's a mystery to me why all portable stands aren't made out of aluminum.

I find this idea great dewster! It is not too complicated and might lower my Privia enough. Since the modified stand measures 25 1/4" + approximately 4 inches from the bottom of the Privia to the top of the white keys it could go as low as 29 1/4", which is a full 2 inches lower than my X-stand.

Just a thought that crossed my mind, have you ever considered just cutting off an inch or two of the legs to desired height And then adding the rubber ends with the washers? Maybe it could work?

EDIT: I noticed in your thread that you have a Quik Lok WS 550. I am also considering it as an alternative How good is it as a stand? Would it fit my Privia nicely or is it too big for a slim piano? I'm interested in your thoughts.

Price?

Anyway, there are some aluminum stands like the K&M 18880 and Strukture SK2XA.

You would probably run into those adjustment nuts, and it would make it too custom (just for the P105 - it seems that every time I get too custom on anything I end up disappointed for one reason or another). Too bad they didn't make it downwardly adjustable from standard height, though the removal of the adjustment legs also removes a few pounds of dead weight.

It's a great stand, solid, flexible, gobs of legroom, made to hold large PA speakers, large PA mixers, etc. but folds up pretty small. It would likely be overkill for a smaller DP like yours, though you would have room to add things in the back as we do here. You can buy attachments for it too.

Yeah, price. Materials + TIG/MIG welding. I suppose iron is OK if one doesn't play out too often.

The accordion thing on the 18880 looks like it might interfere with legroom? The SK2XA is an X-stand (never again).

Sweet! But it doesn't seem to fold up all that compactly.

This is true, but it is very light and as you see it all comes apart at the knob/screw points.

I've used the predecessor of the Ultimate Apex AX48Pro for live work from time to time.

For stage piano only, I take off the upper tier entirely, arms and mount. Set the lower mount and arms to exact heigh appropriate for piano playing from bench. On the model I own, the handle has screws and can be slid up and down as well. So I swap the position of the handle and the mount with large arms. The stand is actually quite sturdy with this lower center of gravity, surprisingly. The only thing I do not like about this design is location of the cross legs facing the player (not the one running straight back). You have to make a choice if you want to put your sustain pedal in front of or behind the legs when in fact you'd like to put it right on the leg - I'm 5'9". Otherwise, it's easy to carry.

I've seen these stands in stores and they always feel sorta "tippy" and maybe kinda dangerous to have around little kids. The table form of stand seems the most stable and secure, and with the best leg/foot room.

It's always something. If they made a stand that everyone liked, life as we know it would probably come to an end. So we should be thanking them I suppose.

Nice one Charles, that's a sad state of affairs that they can't engineer an X stand that can do proper seated height.

Dewster.... the Ultimate? eh, I've been using it 20 years first with a 76k Kurzweil K1000 and in more recent years with a Yamaha S90ES. Never had a tip. The design holds the weight and is balanced. It just looks tippy. But it's poo for leg room with the bar up the middle, and like I was saying, locating your pedal is cr@p.

K&M seem to have addressed the pipe up the middle issue with the 18840 Spider.
I would use this in a heart beat. You can height your keyboard to anything, no clips. Just slides exactly where you'd like it.

I think they solved the stand problem a long time ago with the table form, and this spider thing is just a bunch of smart Germans showing off.

It still kind of looks like that center bar is encroaching in the legroom / footpedal areas.

And for $300 it would also have to bring me dinner and comfort me through long lonely nights.

I've been using a Gibraltar drum rack as a stand for a Kawai VPC1 for the past few months. I have it adjusted down to 20 inches to fit my daughter and it would easily go much lower. It's rock solid, and can be easily broken down for transport. Here's the thread with pictures that I started back then.

OK, the answer is simple: K&M 18953 table type keyboard stand (video). It will ideally suitable for you.

I very carefully studied this question. And I found that for me (to be exact, for KAWAI MP7) the K&M 18953 (24 inches [61 cm]) is just the best keyboard stand. Not 18950 (too high, 26.4 inches [67 cm], it also has big depth which means in our case it will protrude from under the piano's body, which looks not attractively). And not 18810 aka "Omega" (less compact, less stable, especially on uneven surfaces, and I personally like its design less, than classical 18953).

K&M 18953 on manufacturer's website.

I have this keyboard stand. Here are some pictures:
One | Two | Three

P.S. My K&M 16085 Headphone holder is on the way (video). It's in German, but very visual.

Thanks 9190 for the three photos. I am sold on the K&M 18953, especially because of the shallow depth.
What bench are you using in the third photo? Do you have any thoughts on the best bench?
Thnx,
//Cliff
