Just watched a video with what looks like a 1991 Estonia 274 9ft Grand...utilizing new Ari Isaac's Bass strings and hammers. The hammers are right out of the box, no voicing....both installed about 3-4 months ago. Mapes International Gold for the treble, WNG carbon fiber....impressive. The tuning...not the best, but you can hear the quality there. Anyone speak Portuguese? wink

From what I can gather from the web, this vintage 274 is right before the change of ownership by Mr. Laul.

thanks, mr grandpianoman

this is my piano. this video was recorded just ONE DAY after installing the hammers and strings.thats the reason the tunning was not so good. it was just the first test
now, 3 months after, it is very stable and the sound is growing.
this is some recordings made last month

I'm no expert but to me either the recording equipment is not too good or the pianist is using too much sustain ?? confused

Very nice. Nice sounds...nice voice to that piano...nice play between sustained vs damped textures. Thanks Arsis!

You're welcome Adonais.....the Estonia sounds great, as does the piano with the jazz ensemble.........and this is one of the pre-Laul pianos! Enjoyed the performances as well. Btw...it sure sounds "in tune" now!

Ari's hammers and bass strings are truly the "high-end" in the sound department. smile

I will have the same setup as you have for my 1928 Steinway AR, a 6ft4 grand in a 7ft case, WNG carbon fiber action and shanks, and Ari's hammers.....except for his bass strings, which I may get after I hear the piano in my living room. This is a player piano, so will be posting some recordings etc. smile

hello, goof

yes, the pianist is using sustain a lot.
the recording equipment is world class: beyerdynamic and earthworks microphones, earthworks pre amps, mytek converters and van den hul cables. no audio effects, no eq, just a little, almost nothing compression to keep the level in the limits
thanks for you comment.
