I was interested to see this very unusually designed piano. The web site has some very nice sample recordings which allow you to hear the tone of the piano.

I'm interested in what others think.

Any piano prepared by Don Mannino is going to be something special.

I listened to some of the posted recordings and wasn't very impressed. I hear the longitudinal modes hissing and clanging because of the bridge agraffes. Not a sound I am fond of. The latest Phoenix pianos do not use the bridge agraffes in the treble because of L-mode beating that they create.

I liked it - very clear, and seemed to suit the various styles on the recordings. But, with computer speakers it's sometimes difficult to make an accurate assessment.

I looked on the website, but couldn't spot how big a piano it is - from the photos I'd guess maybe 7', but could be bigger?

I wonder - whether something as avant-garde could be a difficult proposition if/when it comes time to sell it - would there be much market for it (like with 9' pianos). I wouldn't have a problem myself putting it in my home - which doesn't really have a styling theme, where the style would work as well as a traditional piano, but it may not suit all styles, or some people's tastes.

Interesting, you have some more info? Like, what is L mode beating, how do agraffes cause it and why does it cause these sounds?

Where can I hear this best in their recordings?

Search for "Fully Tempered Duplex Scale" on Google patent searches for my US patent application.

Also there is a thread titled "Fully Tempered Duplex Scale", (FTDS), on the Piano Technicians forum on PW.

If you have any questions, ask me on the PW FTDS thread.
