Hello everyone!
I am looking at a Baldwin Model R from 1969 that shows very little wear. The French Provincial cabinet has a few blemishes, but overall it shows little wear. Hammers are only slightly grooved and it plays nicely. The dealer is asking $5500.00. This area is not a large piano market so there are not many local comparisons. I would appreciate your ideas about the price and also any experiences with this model. The price seems low, so I am interested in what you have to say and any cautions you might have. Thanks for your expertise!!

Hi Sally,

I'm certainly no expert, but that sounds like a pretty good price from a dealer. It is certainly not way over-priced, and Baldwin is a well-known, well respected brand.

Good luck!!

I have a Baldwin R from the late 1990s; Queen-Ann style too. I like it a lot...

Some folks think the older ones are better than the newer ones... not sure about that, but I do like the one I have.

As long as it is actually in the condition it appears to be (have a technician evaluate before you buy) I think it's a fair price.

I agree that $5500 is low for a piano that really does play well. I love my Baldwin R--would second the advice to get a technician's opinion.
