Been listening to Charles Lloyd.

Check out the piano solo in the first tune, Forest Flower. Note the great interplay between Jarrett and DeJohnette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOGqAvElCAs

And if you didn't think Jarrett could get funky, check out his short solo in Love In. The tune, with that flute, sounds a bit dated, but nothing about the solo does. The break in the middle is unbelievable:

Thanks for posting that. The first one is even more impressive when you realize that Jarrett was 21 at the time.

Here's Keith Jarrett playing Secret Love with Art Blakey and the Messengers

From the same album (Buttercorn Lady)

Chuck Mangone, I think, is the trumpet player.

That's one unusual Blakey Album! On Secret Love, Jarrett's solo is great, but he sounds like he's playing in a different kind of band. Buttercorn is a Chuck Mangione composition (he wrote most of the tunes on the album) that does not sound like typical Jazz Messenger stuff.

Interesting and good stuff!

It's Jarrett's first commercial release, recorded when he was 20. I bought it about 25 years ago when I read in a Jarrett bio that it was an unremarkable album, except for his two solos, which critic Leonard Feather said at the time "contain in them the entire history of jazz piano."
