The "incerdible hulk" Conover 9-4 with a cc-1 plare arrived at Reeder Pianos yesterday for rebuilding and refinishing. Whew. My guess and the movers is with legs and action it weighs 1400 lbs.

It has been a year since the big Conover arrived at Reeder for rebuilding. It is apart now and refinishing has begun. Surprise! It is mahogany veneer. The rim is monstrous. Made out of laminated ash. The beams are center core of maple or beech with sides laminated to the core of pine.

We are going to refinish this 9 ft 4 in in mahogany. Jim says it was originally mahogany, as the beams were clear finish and not black.

I will. I will be at Reeder's shop tonight for a PTG meeting. I'll send some photos.

So far, I have found this piano to be the same plate as a Mason and Hamlin CC1 but with aliquots added throughout the treble.
