For an exam I need to do, I must pick a piece written maximum 25 years ago...

I have no idea of what is out there.
Any suggestions?

Preferably something short, sweet and not too hard to learn as it must be performed in 5 weeks...

You might get more and better responses if you let us know some idea of your level of proficiency and also the purpose of the exam.

But, for starters, you could try looking at the works of Rzewski at IMSLP. One of the "Nanosonatas" might work.

Thank you for your reply. I'll have a look into them.

It's for an undergrad college exam.
Other pieces in the programme include the Glazunov Sonata No.2 (which is probably the hardest piece for that exam).

Difficulty isn't a problem if I enjoy the piece...

I am open to any level within reason. I think the Fazil Say arrangement of the Turkish March, for example, as far too easy.

You might consider one of the Impromptus by Lowell Liebermann.

Thanks for the cue, Nikolas!

Here's one of my pieces, the video being from a recent recital; the dancer leads the procession

Here's a relatively new work by French composer Martin Loridan, performed by Jennifer Lee recently in the same concert as my work posted above; 4 Fragments d'un rêve (2012)

Some of Wim Statius Mullers' Antillean Dances may fall in that time frame. The publication of them does.
