Thanks much, Anne, and thanks for all the work you do administering this list. You wouldn't believe how being involved in it has helped my playing. I'm only at number 4 but am getting more efficient at getting tunes under my fingers and have every intention of hitting that 40 mark even though we're in the month of May.

Thanks Anne for doing this. I am actually up to 15 now. I may have posted them after you updated the list.

Recording this piece and presenting it for public scrutiny is like me wanting to try sky-diving; I currently have about 10% of the courage I need to actually do it. (....and I say that, considering the folks at ABF is some of most friendly and supportive folks you could ever find...)

I will be playing this in public on Sunday for the first time. A fellow Piano World contributor will also be playing at the event on Sunday. If things go OK, and it is well received (especially by him), then I'll try to record it and publish it early next week.

#19 Song Tune. Could've been better but I'm tired of playing it it's taken too long so time to move on to something else. Not sure what that's going to be though.

My 16th and 17th pieces:

The 16th piece is one by Spanish composer Federico Mompou. It’s a strange little piece from a collection of 28 that Mompou composed under the name “Musica Callada” which means Music for Silence. My first recording of it sounded quite harsh, so I tried to play it again more delicately and with more variation in expression. But the second recording sounded the same as the first!! Ha! I guess what is in my head isn’t actually coming through my fingers and to the keys. Maybe I’ll try to record it again and post it in the future. For now I'll just leave the recording out.

The 17th piece is Prelude 2 from Bach’s Six Short Little Preludes. This is a piece I remember playing waaaaaay back decades ago when I used to take lessons. Sadly even with several weeks practice I cannot play it like I once did. But I’ve decided to move on from it so this will have to do!

1. Bach (Short) Prelude No. 2
2. Bach Musette in D
3. Prokofiev Op. 65 No. 1--Morning
4. Prokofiev Juvenilia Allegretto in A minor
5. Grieg Op. 12 No 3—Watchman’s Song
6. Schumann Op. 68 No 16--First Loss
7. Schumann Op. 6 No. 4 (Davidsbundlertanze)- Ungeduldig (Con impazienza)
8. Schumann Op. 6 No. 10 (Davidsbundlertanze)- BalladenmaBig sehr rasch
9. Liszt Resignazione
10. Prokofiev Op 65. No. 2-Promenade
11. Scriabin Op. 16 No. 4
12. Scarlatti Sonata K32
13. Beethoven Bagatelle Op. 119 No 9.
14. Beethoven Sonatina in G 1st Movement
15. Prokofiev Op. 65 No. 11--Evening
16. Mompou Musica Callada 3
17. Bach Prelude 2 (of Six Little Preludes)

Good luck on Sunday Brian! I look forward to your posting of a recording in this thread in the future. Even if there are mistakes. or even if you only get through part of a piece! none of that matters here. And don't worry about "public scrutiny" of your playing because in this thread no one is doing any scrutinizing. Just encouraging and enjoying. smile

barbaram & Valencia those were wonderful little pieces I loved hearing them smile

I need to hunt for pre-piano compositions I just don't know where to look for them at. My glasses are giving me fits. I look at my keyboard and it looks skewed like the keys are angled up to the left. It's weird.

____________________________________________________________

Zerlina's List:

1. Allemande
2. Baroque March
3. The Russian Bear
4. Petite Classique
5. Round Dance
____________________________________________________________

Added another one, "Carefree Stroll," by Kohler. (My tempo is a VERY laid back stroll and I did have a couple of pauses and one hiccup but I recovered and soldiered on. I don't think they're too glaring but -- as always -- it could be better.)

6. Carefree Stroll

Onto my recent listens:

Anita, that's a pretty piece with a folk-song quality. Moving on is a good thing and you definitely got that piece under your belt. I hope you picked something you love! smile

barbaram, I love the Villa-Lobos, especially the way it just tapers off at the end and you did a nice job bringing that out.

Valencia, beautiful, crisp playing on the Bach.

Great progress, everyone!

11. Moonlight Bay
12. I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover
13. Baby Face
14. Anchors Aweigh
15. Semper Paratus
16. Wild Blue Yonder

Today was Armed Forces Day, so, having already learned the Caisson Song and the Marine's Hymn, I added navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force to the mix for today's gig smile Lawrence Welk FTW!

Ah, Zerlina, very nice, but I was expecting something from American Bandstand! Perhaps you're not old enough to have that expectation laugh

Thank you. I've heard of American Bandstand but I think you're right - - before my time. I just turned 40 in March.

Barbaram, enjoyed listening to Anything Goes. It sounds like fun to play.

Cathy, I really enjoyed seeing the video of the Stroll. It sure brought back memories since I am old enough to remember doing it at dances.
