As with everything why don't people realise that if a piano, or anything else, is offered free or at a nominal charge- that is exactly what it is worth?

I look at craigslist piano listings just because you never know...

Anyway, this showed up. I can't begin to imagine what their idea of "bad shape" might be.

That owner is making a bad mistake. He should hold onto that piano for another two hundred years until it's a bonifide antique. Then he could get $800 for it!

I just HAD to click on the ad when I saw the sentence "Had been converted from a Grand to an Upright in the 50's."

That's the best looking grand conversion I've ever seen.

Where do people get these ideas!! I guess its a variation on the "upright grand" concept. Very funny!

Everything in this thread is 404.

Please, if you're going to post a joke, at least let us hear it.

Maybe craiglist removes ads after a certain period of time. Much of these were 404. I was looking forward to more funny stuff.

As long as it can lean against the wall without collapsing, it's in good shape.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

I'm pretty sure they do. I've heard times like 7 or 10 days, or 30 or 45 days or so, depending on where the ad is placed. I think large cities like Los Angeles get the shorter time.

"Here is a beautiful piano which has a great sound. The sound board of the piano is metal -- not aluminum. Many pianos which are built in this day and age have aluminum sound boards."

I'm still on the fence as to which sound board has the better tone...metal or aluminum.

I was quite disappointed that there was no picture of the "metal" soundboard. I wanted to compare it with all the other metal boards I've seen.
