Does anyone have any suggestions of piano facebook groups that are as vibrant as this community and share knowledge regarding the instrument, music performance, songwriting, and/or teaching?

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

Thanks, I was also hoping to find a few groups that focused on technique. Ever since Facebook changed its search, it's become harder to find what I'm looking for.

I think the utility of pages, forums, books around physical technique is extraordinarily limited.

Words are at best a flickering light. You have to stumble around in the gloom yourself--or with the aid of a teacher. Don't bump into anything!

+1 thumb

As a technique tragic myself I recently took a bit of an interest in this subject wondering how to improve my technique. Certainly no facebook page is ever going to help, you might as well use this forum to ask your questions to get the best response. However don't expect too much as there are no sure fire exercises or methods.

I think we should possibly retract that welcome, since this post was only made as a prelude to his bot-like 2nd spam post.

darn, I know I am too nice, my first greeting should always be "are you a robot beginner pianist"?

Thanks for showing the Don't Shoot the Pianist pages. It had lots of funny comics that are pianist inside jokes, and I thoroughly enjoyed them.

I am relishing the irony that a spammer chose a "Facebook" thread to jump in. wink

Listen to what Maria Joao Piers says about technique in this video. I believe she is right. Technique has always seemed to be shrouded in mystery, with no real straight forward information. It's almost as if it is something we keep searching for always doubting ourselves. This only serves to hold you back.

Returning to the piano after almost 11 years away from it, I find I am much more relaxed, picking up information on the music page faster. I think it's because I've forgotten about my obsession with technique.

Always working to improve "Chopsticks". I'll never give up on it.
