This digital piano is for a not for profit community group but does not work, we were told it has worked in the past but I think not! Many ppl have looked at it. Several Tech's have voluntarily looked into the problem, the latest is that the custom made silicon chip is not responding. I am told that one of 2 chips custom made for Daewoo is not operating correctly, looks like an internal failure. I think this means that the Field Programmable Gate Array is dead and only Daewoo would know how it is programmed. There is no serial number on the baby grand. We have No circuitry information. I am also told that it has a single programmable computer which is an issue. It will be difficult to get it to work, but I thought that if anyone anywhere in the world can help, it would be pianoworld! All recommendations welcomed. Thank You.

You're talking about hardware failure on the main board of this device. The only reasonable solution is to replace the entire main board. Contact the service dpt. of the vender and see if they have one in stock and if they have a proper service center in your area. If they have the part but no service center in your area, ask if they would be willing to sell you the part and service manual. If so, it's a gamble that you have the expertise to pull the board and make all necessary connections with the keyboard, speakers, audio io, etc. if you think your comfortable with the prospect, go for it. If not, it's time to let go of this instrument and research replacements (which have become cheaper and better featured since the release of your model.

Thanks for your reply. The vender was a person allegedly selling it for his partners mother. There is no Dept that I can follow up with. I think that these went out of production about 15-20 years ago, so I was just taking a hunch that maybe somewhere in the world, there might be one (a motherboard) available. It is a very beautiful looking piano, but obviously is of no use if it does not work. It may be that we need to try and find a keyboard and replace the 'guts' of it, but then again, thats another challenge.

Hi, that's a pity. They aren't worth much - age on a digital piano is like driving a car off the lot. You're best bet with this project is finding another to strip for parts. Maybe there's another floating about that's shot but the mainboard is still working.

Hi Elmer, yes that would be a good solution. I remain hopeful that we will get it working at some stage! Hence this post on this worldwide piano page! Fingers & Toes crossed,

Have a photo? Just out of interest -- there does not seem to be any photo online?
Kawai CN35. Daughter wanted a piano, so we got one. Now who'll learn faster? ;-)
