I've been using a chord in "Begin the Beguine" that I wasn't sure how to put in lead sheet notation:

C D F Bb

C9sus4 is what this site proposes. Maybe add on a (-5) to say not to use the G.

I'd write it as something like Dm6b/C and just remember to omit the 5th. That may not be technically the correct way to write it, but it's a lot easier to remember (for me at least) than C9sus4(-5) or whatever. When you're marking up lead sheets, you're just doing it for yourself. As long as you understand what you mean that's all that matters. Worst case scenario, you can write out the individual notes instead of the chords.

-5 is commonly used to indicate flat 5.

You want to quickly identify the notes required. Not the notes that are not required.

Bb9/C seems like best choice. However, the notes indicated are not including the 7th. If I were to come across a 9th I'd want to include the 7. But, will it fit here?

Also, where does it go next? The answer from this would help in determining if C9sus4 or Bb9/C is better choice. If resolving to F, the suspension is making more and more sense.

It goes next to Bdim. And before it is plain old C.
