I just found out about Warren Shadd pianos and was curious if anyone knew more about them?

I've not heard of them before and the testimonials to date seem to come from jazz pianists primarily, but I wonder why they make both a 9' 3" grand and a 9' 2" grand at a difference of $10,000.00 per inch.

Can the market bear more $175,000.00+ pianos?

Regards,

The 9'2" picture is the stock Bluthner concert grand photo, photoshopped with the name Shadd on the side. The other 3 look like Hailuns.

If I were to take a bet... Looks to me like they get out sourced pianos (from China I'll bet) add a player system, a built in sound system, and a built-in computer, and charge lots of money for it. Frankly I don't see anything new or unique here other than the piano lengths and what they go thru to squeeze computer hardware into it. A full production audio workstation in your overpriced grand...

The plate styles did seem to remind me of Hailun. I thought they looked like stencils, but wasnt sure.

The website is very interesting. I have learnt a lot from it. What a stellar career as a musician and now CEO of his own piano manufacturing company.

USA really is the land where people can achieve their dreams through hard work and talent.

Hmmm... This is the same Warren Shadd who was quoting stars 5 years ago or so about his hybrid pianos and how great they were... when they didn't exist? (The pianos didn't exist. The stars did, of course.)

Keith Kerman is correct. The 9'2" seems like a stock Bluthner and the other pianos seem like stock Hailuns.

I suppose Bluthner must have hijacked his image and photoshopped their name onto it. There is so much roguery on the internet.

3 weeks ago I pointed out to NPR that their use of the term "manufacture" is inappropriate. They have chosen not to respond.

looks like a crock of sh*t to me.

there is a picture of a Blüthner, and then three Chinese pianos.

Did any of these people say those things?

Scam I say.

Just reviving this, as I just saw an article about these pianos in MMR magazine.

Online here:
http://mmrmagazine.com/current-issue/2288-shadd-pianos.html

Just FYI... I've no firsthand experience.

The piano he is sitting on is a Chinese Hailun, only where it would normally say Hailun on the fallboard, they have put a decal on it that says Shadd. Ordering a piano from China, and having them put a different decal on the fallboard is probably not quite enough to call oneself a piano manufacturer. You have to at least dust the piano as well, and I see no proof of that.

Did you mean 9'-3" and 7'-2"?
